Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Sims

This past weekend Sam and I ventured to Gainesville for Callie and Tyler's wedding. When we arrived I felt like a crazy girl planning her own wedding...WAIT I AM. I was looking at every little detail. Their wedding was amazing with such vibrant colors. I felt like I was on vacation but only down the street from my parents home.

Callie was a BEAUTIFUL Bride and her dress...Oh my goodness!

I loved all the colors! The tables and chairs were awesome. I really felt like we were at a tropical wedding resort and not the Syfan's Home.

Whitney, Alyssa, Katie, Brooke, Ellen, Myself and Brittni.

Some of the girls dancing the night away. The DJ was awesome.

My crazy fiance and I. I swear we can never get a good picture together without him making some ridiculous face.

Sam and the BRIDE!

Probably the best part of the night. We were so caught off guard...

The GROOM was iced! Absolute BEST IDEA EVER! Thank you Callie and Tyler for letting us share in your wonderful day. We had such a great time and we wish ya'll a lifetime of happiness!

A Package in the Mail

I received the sweetest package in the mail yesterday. Not only do I love ETSY.COM but I'm pretty sure I'm obsessed with it. I have ordered so many handmade items for our wedding and it has given me great inspiration for a ton of DIY projects.

Speaking of DIY projects, I don't know what possessed me to take on the projects but I am so thankful that my future sister-in-law is coming over tonight to help me! More on the projects later this week.

Back to the sweet package...

It is things like this that make the whole "wedding planning" process worth while. Can't wait!

Paula Deen's Hawaiian Chicken Salad

Hawaiian Chicken Salad
SERVES 8-10

This is wonderful served on croissants or on a bed of lettuce. It also makes a nice appetizer served in miniature phyllo shells.

4 cups cubed cooked chicken breasts (4 large breasts)
2 cups diced celery
1 cup mayonnaise (fat-free mayo)
1 cup sliced almonds
Two 11 oz. cans mandarin oranges, drained
One 20 oz. can pineapple tidbits, drained
1 pound seedless green grapes, cut in half

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken, celery, mayo, and almonds. Mix well. Gently fold in oranges, pineapple, and grapes. ENJOY!

Madison Tornado

Last week tornado's and severe weather ripped across many parts of Alabama and Georgia. I sat anxiously watching the news all night (along with periodic phone calls from my Mother). I was thankful that Athens was spared. I woke up to my co-worker from our Madison office calling me at 6:00 A.M. She said I would probably need to head to Madison because she had heard from her neighbors that our part of town had been hit by an F-1 tornado...WHAT? I didn't even think the weather was that bad in Madison. Much to my surprise this is what we walked into Thursday morning...

This is our back break room area.
When we looked up...there was no roof. In the words of our sales rep, "that's one big skylight."

Sam called me that morning as well to let me know that Lake Burton had also been hit by an F-3 tornado. Here is a pciture from the lake and a video clip of the damage.

It is so sad to see all the damage and to know that a lot of people lost their lives. It makes you realize how fast things can be taken away from you.
