Horseradish Grill - Atlanta

A few Friday's ago, a friend of mine and I ventured to Atlanta to try out Horseradish Grill. We had heard great reviews on the restaurant. It is near Chastain Park and was beautifully decorated.

Before we sat down we decided we were going to go all out on our food choices. We weren't going to look at prices. We just wanted to try all the courses. Well, we did just that!

We started, with nothing else, but a nice bottle of red wine. They brought out homemade biscuits with pecan butter and preserves....Yes, HOMEMADE BISCUITS! We ordered the appetizer special of mussels, along with the fried green tomatoes. After eating ALL of the biscuits and both appetizers, we decided to go straight for the entree. I dined on the seared duck breast; glazed with honey truffle oil. My friend enjoyed the beef tenderloin. Both entrees were amazing. The portion size was pretty good because we both had left overs. But we didn't stop there. We then ordered heath bar crunch ice cream served in a homemade benne seed shell with fresh berries. Delicious!!

If you aren't all making reservations right now for Horseradish Grill...You should be! I can't wait to take my husband for a romantic evening in A-Town!!

Christmas Time

One plus about our rental home is that we have 12 foot ceilings. So you know what that means...we got a 10 ft. Christmas Tree! Since Sam and I have been together (8 years) we have only had little 3 foot trees. Easy to decorate and move. But this year we wanted to celebrate our first Christmas as Newlyweds!
I made another Hobby Lobby Wreath. I purchased the already twined wreath and I picked up extra Christmas tree branches from Home Depot...they are FREE right beside where they cut your Christmas trees. I bought the letter "S" and some gold spray paint. And I already had the pine cones (from this fall) and the gold ribbon. All for less than $15.00!
 HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Turkey Day Recipe

My Mother's Pea Salad
This recipe has been served at family gatherings for as long as I can remember. For our recipe shower, my mother gave me her pea salad recipe. Sam and I love it so much. We could eat it every day!

Ingredients
1 head of lettuce, chopped
1/2 medium onion, chopped
5 stalks of celery, chopped
1 can of young early peas, drained
1 cup of mayo
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 jar of real Bacon pieces

After everything is chopped, layer the lettuce, onion, celery and peas. It usually is about 2 layers but you can always make it 3. Top the last layer with mayo, spreading it evenly across the top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, sugar and then top with the bacon pieces. Keep refrigerated and mix right before you serve.

ENJOY!!!

Cody Road Workshops

My Dad has been telling us about Cody Road Workshop for over a year now and how we have to go check it out. Every year, the first weekend in November, Cody Road has a Scratch-N-Dent sale. When we arrived on Saturday morning, bright and early, there were already people lined up outside of the gate. I wasn't looking to buy anything in particular, but there are a couple spaces in our rental home where we could use some furniture. It was like a mad dash to claim furniture and accessories.

I made out with an antiqued 4-shelf cabinet for a pretty good deal! My step-mom bought us the candles and cage. Love them! I decorated it quickly for our Saturday night guest but I am thinking I want 4 matching baskets for the shelf's. If you're in the North Georgia area next year, November 2012, stop by and get great deals on furniture.

Halloween Weekend

Our Friday evening started out with great friends. We all met at Bonefish for a delicious dinner and then headed to Wild Bills for the Jamey Johnson concert. I told Sam I didn't think I had been to Wild Bills in 7 years...it hasn't changed a bit.

Then on Saturday, we headed to Tayler's to celebrate his birthday, watch the Georgia game and celebrate Halloween. I was a Boarder Patrol agent and Sam was my Mexican. He didn't talk in English most of the night...hilarious! And GA got a WIN over FL!!!

Triton on Halloween. She did not want to pose for the camera at all. Either she wanted some of the chocolate candy or she wasn't thrilled with us dressing her up as a cow.

We had a great time celebrating with friends this weekend. Here is a clip of the music video, In Color, one of only 2 (maybe 3) songs we knew by Jamey Johnson :) Can't believe it's already November.
