Virus & Pictures

I finally caught an "online/web" virus on my old email account, which is the email account I orginally created this blog with. I decided to delete the old email account not thinking anything would happen to my blog since I had already backed it up and made my new email address the blog administrator. Well, I was wrong. Every picture is gone from the posts that I wrote under my old email address. I fixed a couple things such as my title picture but it seems like the rest of gone...and from my camera too. Oh well...I'm moving on.
So much is going on in our very busy lives and we officially have 6 weddings on the books for 2013. We are still updating our house room by room and landscaping our yard weekend after weekend. Why is it never ending? At least we love it! Here are a few pictures until next time!!

Before & After: Antique Sofa

I have had my eyes on this sofa since I was a little girl. It belonged to my grandparents and back in the 70's they decided to "upgrade" the sofa in the living room. So, they sat this Duncan Phyfe sofa on the street for anyone to take for free. Crazy, right? My Dad decided to scoop it up and and it has been in storage for over a decade.
Now that Sam and I have our first home, I thought it was time to reupholster the sofa. I was recommended a guy here in Gainesville and his work is amazing. The hardest part of the whole process was trying to find the fabric. I searched and searched, carried around cushions with me to fabric stores and eventually called our sellers. She had a similar chair recovered and the fabric was just what I was looking for. And thankfully she still had the invoice with all the details. After the fabric arrived, I dropped it off on a Thursday and our sofa was ready the following Tuesday. Talk about hard work and an amazing turn-around. We even had to have new cushions made that would be more comfortable. We are so pleased and cant wait to finish the living area completely.

Sofa After! We love it!

A glimpse at our living area. We still have so much decorating to do. And our print and plates need to be moved down a couple inches.

We love the detailing with double welt trim.

I also went with single welting down the sofa that line up with the cushions.

We used Lonnie Jones here in the Gainesville, Georgia area and we highly recommend his work. He was so polite, gave good options and his work is impeccable. He can be reached 770-823-2614. We have plenty more before & afters in the future. Happy Fall!

Scott's Antique Market

Scott's is a dangerous place, especially when you are trying to decorate not only your home but helping someone else too. There were so many items I wanted to come home with from rugs, to pillows and all sorts of decor pieces. Here are a few picks from the day and some items we both came home with.

My Mother-in-law bought a set of these ikat print pillows. They match perfectly with her new rug.

She also bought this amazing burnt orange and tan rug. When you stand on different sides it looks different colors from the weaving alignment.

I loved these pieces of wall art.

I loved these 2 shabby chic lamps and dresser but I did not love the price tag.

We are searching for a piece of decorative wood or something similar to go above our headboard. I saw this and really liked it. Maybe next trip I will purchase something similar.

I loved the fabric on this chair. The guy kept trying to sell it to me. I don't think he understood I was only taking pictures of the fabric and definitely not wanting to purchase the chair for $600 big ones.

I came home with a set of these lovely gold plates. Haven't found a place for them yet but they will be hanging on the wall soon.

Here is the decor at the end of our upstairs hallway. I purchased the 2 brass candlesticks for a steal along with the vase that the dried hydrangeas are in. Both for less than $20.00.

Last but not least, I also purchased these decor pieces and hung them on a small wall next to the front hallway. I love the gold mirror and small dessert plates.

I think my Mother-in-law and I both made out with some good finds. Of course next time we will be more prepared and know what we are looking for and how to better negotiate the prices. Can't wait for our next visit!!

We bought a house...

It's OFFICIAL! Sam and I are homeowners! We couldn't be more excited and still can't believe the house is really our home. We love everything about it and are so lucky that the previous owners took such good care of everything. And even more lucky that the "wife" had AH-MAZING decorating skills. We are completely smitten over our 1967 brick ranch style home. Here are a few before pictures. I never got a chance to take any before pictures while the house was empty. Everything happened so fast!

Here are a few more pictures of small things we have accomplished. We are both so busy it seems like we never have time. But I will definitely blog about our "makeovers" throughout the process.

Hands down I would have to say my husbands favorite part of the house is the screened-in porch. He loves to sit out there in the evening with a drink and watch his new pets...
