DIY Chalkboard

I have been meaning to make my own DIY chalkboard for a while now but haven't had the time to find a large inexpensive frame. My husband and I just bought our first home and I had a ton of stuff to take to Habitat for Humanity. After a short walk through inside I came home with this awesome frame for $4.99. After a couple coats of Krylon Chalkboard Paint on the glass and leftover white trim paint on the wood frame, I had the perfect chalkboard for less than $10.00.

The chalkboard can be used for all sorts of fun events, dinner parties or even grocery list.

Is it already July?

Gosh this year has flown by. Sam and I have been so busy and it seems never ending. But we wouldn't trade it for the world. A couple weekends ago we headed to Athens for a day on the Broad River. We kayaked for about 4 hours and then headed downtown for Athfest. We got to enjoy some of our favorite restaurants and bars. And of course, we had a slice of white chocolate cheesecake from Last Resort Grill. Couldn't leave Athens without it.

This past weekend we headed to Lake Burton for the Fireworks. Since the 4th fell on a Wednesday, the fireworks were Saturday here at the lake. The weather was perfect (on the lake where you could easily jump in) but at the farm, it was a mere 104 degrees most of the day. Completely awful. The fireworks were some of the best we have seen on the lake. Can't wait for next year!!

HAPPY SUMMER!! Football season is just around the corner.

I'm so behind on blogging!!! In the past 2 months we celebrated our friend Havolynne's bachelorette weekend and her wedding. The bachelorette was in Atlanta and we had a great time partying with all the girls. On Friday, we went to Park Tavern to see Yacht Rock. Highly Recommend...it was so much fun! On Saturday, we relaxed around the pool before we headed to DryBar. It was so amazing to have someone else style your hair and not have to worry about it. A couple weekends later, the wedding ceremony was held at First Baptist Church in our hometown and the reception was at the Civic Center. The flowers and decorations were beautiful. Havolynne was stunning and her wedding dress was one of the prettiest I have EVER seen. Gorgeous! Here are some pictures from both weekends!!

Congratulations Havolynne and Austin!! The wedding was perfect!!

Lately...

It has been a busy couple of weeks and the weekends are only getting crazier as the days go by. We have so many events throughout the summer and we can't wait for every single one of them. A couple of weekends ago, I attended a wonderful "Hostess with the Mostess" shower for our friend Havolynne. It was such a cute setting at a tea parlor in Gainesville, Serenity Spa. The tables were set perfectly with spring flowers and they had little custom tea bags as favors.

I couldn't stay long as my day included 3 events already. After the shower, Sam and I met some of his Law School friends at Sweetwater 420 Fest in Candler Park. It was a quick outing with good music and food before we had to head out again to get ready for the Barrister's Ball.
That evening we met some more Law School friends for the 2012 Barrister's Ball at the GA Aquarium. I haven't been to the aquarium in a couple of years and I forgot how beautiful everything is...the fish, sharks, whales...we loved it. One of the beluga whales, Maris, is pregnant and suppose to give birth by June. Check out this article.
***UPDATE*** After I wrote this post, I found out that Maris did give birth to her calf Friday at the GA Aquarium. Read the article here.

Some great friends got together at the Junior League of Hall County May Dinner. The dinner was Derby Days themed and it was so fun to see all the different hats. Of course, our friend Caroline, in the big purple hat, won best hat! Amazing.
My Mother-in-law came into to town for a quick visit to look at houses. She put her house in Florida on the market and has had several offers. Currently there is a pending contract but Take a look. We are glad she is finally moving to Georgia!! For Mother's Day, Sam and I got her a subscription to Southern Living. It's a must for all Georgia Ladies.
Last weekend, Sam and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary. We ventured to Tennessee to go camping at Fall Creek Falls State Park. We wanted to go somewhere different and the waterfalls in the plateaus seemed really interesting. We hiked to all 6 waterfalls and some overlooks with amazing views. We also toured Cumberland Caverns for a little spelunking adventure. Caving was something Sam and I have never done and it was so awesome. There were waterfalls inside the caves, formations and crystals that the camera didn't do justice, tight squeezes, and lots and lots of mud.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Spring/Summer. The weather is perfect and can't wait for Havolynne's Bachelorette Weekend and Memorial Day!

Spring and Wedding Season

Sam and I started off our weekend with a trip to The Home Depot. The weather was perfect and we decided it was finally time to plant some herbs and give our yard a little color. Of course, since we are in a rental home everything went into pots and not the ground. We cannot wait to finally be able to landscape a yard.

Later that evening, we headed to Atlanta to celebrate the wedding of Amanda and Alex Wilbanks. The ceremony and reception took place at the Biltmore Ballrooms.
Everything was perfect from the bride, to the flowers, to the dancing. We had a wonderful evening with friends and family.

We wish Mr. and Mrs. Wilbanks so much happiness and of course a wonderful honeymoon. I cannot wait to check out all the pictures from the wedding. There are previews already posted and they are stunning. Chelsea Patricia was their photographer. Check out her website and blog here for more pictures to come.
